LOCAL GRANT MATCH CAMPAIGN GOAL REACHED

Over $22,500.00 has been raised locally.


STATION BUILD OUT HAS BEGUN.VOLUNTEERS ARE WORKING HARD TO HAVE WOVV ON AIR BY JUNE 1ST. Community Radio, just as NPR, will always be in need of donations and other funding. THE UNDERWRITING CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT OPERATIONS HAS STARTED. For $540.00 a year a business underwriter will have the opportunity in twenty nine seconds or less to promote their business under the guidelines of non-profit radio. Ocracoke youth will do most of the voice overs in the underwriting spots. Individuals, families, other non profits, foundations, etc... can also become underwriters for $300.00 a year.

The Ocracoke Community Radio Project

 

 The mission of the Project is to provide Ocracoke Island access to the airwaves for educational, informative and entertaining programming produced by and for the community.

 Goals:
 

1. Develop strategy to obtain a Full Power FCC Non-Commercial Educational Broadcast License for the community of Ocracoke Island

2. Locate potential sites for studio and transmitter/antennae

3. Develop funding strategies

4. Recruit interested members of community for assistance and involvement in the project

       

Benefits:

3. Promotion of local musicians, storytellers, journalists and artists

4. Internships and involvement of Ocracoke School students
