The Outdoor Shower Power Hour
Mon 6-8pm EST; Fri 9-11am EST

I moved to the island in April of 2018 and started The Outdoor Shower Power Hour back in January of 2019 from 7-8pm. Once the 6-7pm slot opened, I grabbed it to have a two-hour slot! My setlists typically consist of a unique word in each of the song titles. The music mainly ranges from the 1950’s – 1980’s with a sprinkle of current day artists as well. You are likely to hear Classic Rock, Rhythm & Blues, Southern Rock, Gospel and more. I like to start with slower paced songs while gradually increasing the pace until I get to the closing song. I play two songs and then chime in with some song or artists facts about what was just played. So, grab your shower caps and some soap on a rope and head on into The Shower on Monday nights!

A Life In Rock launched on WOVV in September 2015 after many visits to the island. Drawing on decades as a performer—mostly in Australia—the show highlights Aussie classic rock rarely heard in the US, mixed with international hits, album tracks, and deep cuts. Broadcast from my home studio in Pittsburgh and sometimes live from WOVV’s studio, the show often features lively on-air duets with WOVV favorite Tommy Hutcherson!

Thurs, 12-2am EST; Sat 10-12pm EST. Gospel Train: Weds, 7-8am EST; Sun 7-8am EST

After a career in the finance field, I decided to pursue lifelong desires to participate in music as a radio host and harmony singer. I've been blessed to be able to do both for nearly 30 years. WOVV has helped me expand the breadth of music I present. My YouTube channel (jim bakay) includes videos of some of my performances as well as those of some colleagues.

Island Morning Mix
Tues 8-10am EST; Sat 8-10am EST

“Eclectic as Always” – “The music of the BETTER part of the Twentieth Century” –  “The Hits from the Twenties through the Nineties” … familiar phrases that I use during my WOVV spot, “Island Morning Mix,”. I’m one of the veterans here at WOVV and a hopeless Yankee from the Philadelphia area. Yet, I spend about 3 months of each year in Ocracoke. Tune in to see what’s up on Tuesday and Saturday mornings…I think you will be hooked!

LeAnne Astin

LeAnne Astin

Sound Crossings
Wed 8-10pm EST; Sat 3-5pm EST

Every week, LeAnne Astin and her husband/producer Ted choose a show theme based on what’s happening on the island or around the OBX, then put together a playlist of amazing and rarely heard music based on the theme. From rock to reggae, psychedelia to psychobilly, funk to folk, swing to soul, blues to bluegrass, gospel to glam…show tunes, kids music, parodies and novelties, too…almost anything is on the table.  They also throw in musical history, fun facts, and more than a few bad puns. It all adds up to a sometimes cool, sometimes strange, but always interesting and eclectic mix.
